Below is a gallery of some of the homes that are on the tours. This year we have four tours to choose from. If you would like to join us, come to the fair and sign up. The tours are very popular so be sure to sign up early. (A limited amount of pre-Fair sign-ups are available. Call 315-379-9466.)

Pyrites Tour: 1 PM - Meet at the P&C parking lot in Canton

This straw bale round house derives some of its power from an on grid solar electric system.
This passive solar home features a masonry stove, an indoor green space and an earthen floor.

This ENERGY STAR®-labeled home is 30% more efficient than a conventional home built to code. It is heated with a pellet stove.

This house is a passive solar, superinsulated home powered in part with a grid-tied net metered solar electric system.

Potsdam/Parishville Tour: 12:30 PM - Meet at the Potsdam Village Parking lot across from the Movie Theater

A new ENERGY STAR®-Labeled home.
This straw bale off-grid home is powered by a solar electric system.
You can’t see it from the street but this downtown Potsdam home boasts an 1600 watt grid tied net metered solar electric system.

Canton/Colton Tour: 9:30 AM - Meet at the P&C parking lot in Canton

This horse farm includes an ENERGY STAR®-labeled home for the owners and a horse barn with 2.6 kW grid tie, net metered solar electric system.
This off-grid home in a local village is powered by 1200W of solar, a unique portable wind power unit, and a human powered bike. The owner also powers his car with his home-made biodiesel. He’ll be happy to show you his efficient appliances too.
